Welcoming the Mid-Autumn Festival – Full Moon and Flowers

On the afternoon of September 15, 2024, the Fifth Residential Committee Activity Center of Fengpu Street, Fengxian District was bustling with laughter and joy. The Shanghai Youdao Public Welfare Service Center held a theme event, “Welcoming the Mid-Autumn Festival with a Full Moon and Flowers”, with 24 community children and 1 volunteer teacher joining in.

At the beginning of the activity, volunteer teacher Ying Manwen vividly told the children the origin, customs and related lantern riddles of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The children listened attentively, very interested in the heritage of the traditional festival.

Afterwards, Teacher Ying led the children to DIY “rabbit lanterns” to let them experience the sense of the festival ritual. The children used their creativity and imagination to make exquisite rabbit lanterns with their hands, while their faces were filled with joyful smiles.

On this day of full moon and beautiful flowers, Shanghai Youdao Public Welfare Service Center brought a strong festive atmosphere to the community by holding this theme event, which not only made the children more aware of the significance of Chinese traditional festivals, providing them with the opportunity for communication, interaction and self-expression, but also allowed traditional culture to take root in their hearts.  In the days to come, they will surely love the traditional culture of their motherland even more, carrying forward the traditions of the Chinese nation.
