In the golden autumn of October, the annual National Day is ushered in by the sweet smell of orange osmanthus flowers. On the afternoon of September 28, 2024, 26 children from the Fifth Community of Fengpu Street, organized by the Shanghai Youdao Public Welfare Service Center, took part in the theme event, “Glorious National Day, Splendid China” to offer most sincere best wishes to their motherland.
Volunteer teachers from Shanghai Normal University began by telling the children about the origin of National Day and the national flag, the national anthem and the national emblem, and led them in watching the actual video of the founding ceremony of the People’s Republic of China, encouraging them carry on the responsibility of the country’s future.
Then they led the children to DIY creative stickers of “Raising the National Flag on National Day”.
Afterwards, volunteer teacher Ying Manwen led the children to take part in a “National Day Knowledge Quiz with Prizes”. The children answered actively, not only exchanging and gaining knowledge, but also winning charming little gifts.
Finally, all the children sang the national anthem of the People’s Republic of China, offering best wishes to their motherland, and wishing the nation prosperity and peace.
