Introduction to Festival Origins
Lanterns are an essential part of our traditional culture symbolizes good fortune during festivals and holidays. During the event, volunteers from Shanghai Normal University explained to the children the origins of the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day, as well as folk customs, legends, and the significant meanings behind making festive lanterns, allowing them to gain a deeper appreciation of these traditional festivals.
Lantern Making
The volunteers distributed the materials for making lanterns to the children and patiently taught everyone how to craft the lanterns. Under guidance, the children focused and earnestly make their lanterns. In no time, various small lanterns of different shapes were displayed in the children’s hands.
Looking at the lanterns they had made with their own hands, the children’s joy was evident.
Through the process of making lanterns, a festive atmosphere of unification and blessings was created, celebrating the joyous occasion. This activity also further deepened everyone’s understanding of the cultural customs of traditional festivals, allowing them to experience the charm of traditional culture and enhancing their cultural confidence!
