12 children participate “Welcome the New Year” lantern-making activity organized by You Dao Center at the Activity Room of the Fengpu Fifth Community Center, on December 30th, 2023.
The activity began with volunteers from the School of Tourism of Shanghai Normal University introducing the origin and customs of New Year’s Day to the children. And then they taught them how to make lanterns.
Under the guidance of the volunteers, the children enjoyed making lanterns. Soon, everyone folded the small petals of the lantern and assembled them into cute little lanterns.
Let’s check out the little lanterns made by the children!
The hands-on lantern-making activity not only make the children more handy, cultivates their creativity and cooperation spirit, it also allows the children to participated in the atmosphere of the festival, better understand the traditional Chinese cultural, and enhance the children’s love for Chinese traditions.
